TestDaF Combo Calculator & Error Analysis
Three tools that show you where you really stand — and what to do next.
Combined Certificate: How It Works
Starting May 12, 2026, the TestDaF Institute introduces the Combined Certificate — one of the most significant changes since the shift to the digital TestDaF. If you take the TestDaF multiple times, you can now combine your best partial results from different exam dates into a single certificate.
The requirements: All exams must have taken place within a 6-month window, and only digital TestDaF results count — the paper-based TestDaF is excluded. The service costs a one-time fee of 29 EUR. Acceptance depends on the individual university, so it's recommended to check with your target institution beforehand.
What does this mean in practice? If you scored only TDN 3 in Writing on your first attempt but TDN 5 in Reading, you can retake the exam focusing on Writing. Your best result per section is then used for the Combined Certificate — without having to retake all four sections.
